How to Prep your Home

When you think of having your next family session take place inside your home, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Honestly mine would probably be a few choice words then frantic housework as if the Queen were coming to visit. 😂 I know, doesn’t sound very professional of me, does it? 🤷‍♀️ Oh well. If you feel even remotely the same way, then this post is for you!

I truly wish when it came to family images that showed our truest season, we as mothers and wives didn’t feel the need to make everything perfect. Because well, everything is not perfect, and that is perfectly ok. 😘 Now let’s get to the good stuff, how to prepare your home for your Storytelling Family Session!

Firstly, only do what will make you comfortable during your session. Perfection is not a requirement for these sessions!

Secondly, do away with the everyday clutter. This can be as involved and complicated as you want it to be. I honestly recommend hiding it if you are low on time. 🤦‍♀️ If you have plenty of time, then deal with that clutter babe!

And thirdly, mirrors and windows are your friends. Being an in-home session, windows are responsible for 90% of our lighting. So, keeping windows and mirrors relatively clean will help immensely. Mirrors also make a really good prop for these as tiny humans love to play with their reflections and yours!
